Galway theatre company Catastrophe will examine the inner turmoil of one of Ireland’s greatest satirists in their upcoming show about Jonathan Swift. 'Love & Fury - The Passion of Jonathan Swift' will be performed in the unique setting of Claregalway Castle on Friday 11 and Saturday 12 November.
Performed by seasoned actor David Heap and directed by Paul Hayes, the play introduces us to Jonathan Swift after he has lost the love of his life, a love that he never acted upon but one that has left him melancholy. He tries to distract himself by railing against the bankers, society and humanity in his satirical masterpiece ‘A Modest Proposal’.
All the while Swift attempts to tie together the disparate elements of a story, a story of a man who goes to sea and wakes up as a giant, but that is only the start of the adventure.
