After its sold-out and critically acclaimed run at Bewleys Theatre in Dublin, TrueWest return home to Galway for their performance of ‘Mary Motorhead’ at the Town Hall Theatre next week. The play, which is written by Mark O’Halloran and directed by Rae Visser, uses specially commissioned film, sound and music alongside a poetic script and a passionate performance from Cora Fenton to create a memorable theatre experience.
The play explores how each of us has a known history and a secret one. Mary ‘Motorhead’ is in prison. Mary invites us to hear her secret history, and in hearing it, we might understand why she stabbed her husband in the head. The secret history, she explains, is what really happened – what was going on inside – something that regular history can never really know.
Mary Motorhead runs from Monday 10 until Saturday 15 October at 8.30pm and tickets cost €14.
