In the history of the hip-hop, few artists have had as great an impact on the development and progression of the art form’s lyrical style as Rakim Allah. Universally referenced as one of the ‘Masters of the Microphone’ and an influence and inspiration to his peers and followers alike, Rakim first exploded onto the scene with the release of iconic ‘Eric B. is President’ in 1986.
Over the years, his recordings have sold millions worldwide and his album ‘Paid in Full’ is frequently referred to as the greatest hip-hop album of all time. Next week, hip-hop fans will have a rare chance to see Rakim Allah in the flesh when he performs at 8pm on Tuesday, 3 May, along with Jimmy The Hideous Penguin and Ri Ra in the Róisín Dubh. Tickets cost €22.50/€20 from www.roisindubh.net.
