Belfast rockers LaFaro have been touring brand new album ‘Easy Meat’ for the last month and give it a Galway debut in Kelly’s this Thursday, 20 October. Polar opposite to the delicate poise of the influential jazz bassist Scott LaFaro from which the quartet takes their name, LaFaro are a wrecking ball of a band.
Their rhythmic post-hardcore is designed to pulverize dance floors and leave no bottle of beer undrunk. This is music distilled to its fundamental elements.
“We hark back to time when rock music was still fun,” states lead rabble-rouser Johnny Black ominously.

Prepare for a feast of bad hair, bright clothes and toe tapping tunes from your early years, as the 80s come to Galway. The ultimate fun six piece live 80s tribute band, Cheesy Bitches will play The Quays bar on Friday 16 December. This female fronted band, which is backed up by keyboard/synth, guitar, drums and bass, go out in full 80s dress and play a full set of cheesy 80s pop tunes.
Although their music is more traditional in style, Big Bag of Sticks are a hard band to pin down to just one genre. They may be loosely described as a folk, punk and reggae band, but other genres present themselves in their music.
