New comedy club

Friday 25 February may well herald a new beginning for the country, but it’s also the day when comedy fans can look forward to a new monthly club at Kudos in Oranmore. Top billing goes to the wonderfully silly and sublime Joe Rooney. Immortalised as the gurrier priest Fr Damo in the hit sitcom 'Fr Ted' and more recently as dimwit Timmy Higgins in ‘Killinaskully’, Rooney is one of the country’s most consistently funny comedians.

Armed with his trusty guitar and a razor sharp mind that clicks at double speed, Joe has performed at all the world’s major comedy festivals as well as selling out Vicar Street on several occasions. Support on the night comes from New Zealand comic Danny Dowling, whose 'Mad Hatters Party' have become the stuff of legend.

Host and MC for the night is Gerry Mallon, fresh from his support role as Tommy Tiernan’s opening act. Tickets, which cost a recession busting €10, are available at the door, which opens at 8.30pm and admission to the show includes free entry to the nightclub afterwards.
