Following a sell-out tour of the US, Danny Bhoy heads up the comedic aspect of the Galway Arts Festival programme this weekend. Joined by Giles Brody and MC Gerry Mallon, Danny promises to bring his unique brand of storytelling and razor–sharp wit to create a remarkable intimacy with his audience.
Subtle, intelligent, perceptive, observant and very, very funny, his routines have the mark of those that will be quoted for years to come.
Friday night also sees the madness of 'Whose Line Is It Anyway?' underway at the Roisin Dubh. Featuring the Stephen Frost Improv Allstars with special guests Phil Jupitus and Josie Lawrence, the six brave performers will arrive on stage with no script. Willed on by a supportive crowd, through improvisation they create sketches and comic dramas, which are amazingly inventive, taking off into flights of surreal brilliance.
The hugely popular lunchtime comedy sessions in the Laughter Lounge also continue this week, spreading mirth, mayhem and madness in the middle of the day. Set in the Ruby Room at the King's Head, Gerry Mallon presents top names from the Irish comedy circuit as well as some international surprise guests. Sessions start at 1pm daily until Saturday 24 July. Tickets are priced at €10 and are available on the door.
Danny Bhoy performs at Cuba Live on Friday 23 July, tickets are priced at €17. 'Whose Line Is It Anyway?' kicks off at the Roisin Dubh at 9pm, with tickets available at €25/€23. Tickets for all show
