Following its spectacular launch in early May, the monthly 'First Friday' Comedy Club at the CO-OP Moycullen continues this Bank Holiday weekend with another strong line-up on Friday 4 June. Stand-up comic, voice over artist, writer and actor, Joe Rooney has many strings to his huge and accomplished bow. As barfly Timmy from Killinaskully, he has become one of Ireland's most popular 'luadars' and the butt of many of Dan Clancy's jokes.
In Fr Ted, he played the unforgettable rebel priest Fr Damo, who uttered the memorable line 'Who do you prefer Blur or Oasis?' However, it is as a stand-up that his star truly shines.
Joe's charismatic style is a mixture of hilarious observations on modern Ireland (from multiculturalism to alternative medicines) and rip-roaringly funny musical parodies. He has appeared on the Late Late Show, the Tubridy Tonight Show, The Stand Up Show and has toured the UK, Europe and the USA extensively.
Support comes from the other side of Lough Corrib, so to speak, in the shape of Kiwi refugee Danny Dowling. Once again, the MC for the evening is Gerry Mallon.
Tickets are available in advance from the CO-OP and on the night at the door, which opens at 9pm. Admission, priced at €10 in advance and €12.20 on the door, includes free entry to the late bar/club after the show.
