• Although renowned for its traditional music session and ceili dancing, the Western Bar also offers a live DJ and cover bands for those who prefer something with a modern twist. The Western Bar has a unique and inviting atmosphere. Entertainment is provided on various evenings and ranges from live sporting events on the big screen to a very popular traditional music session.
  
  While the front bar captures a little piece of old Ireland with a cosy traditional feel, the back bar is a bright, spacious and contemporary venue for all occasions.
  
  The large decked beer garden is ideal place for a BBQ or to unwind with a pint and make the most of the all too rare Irish sunshine.
  
  The Western Bar offers a wide selection of wines, cocktails, spirits, draughts and beers served by friendly and experienced staff.
  
  The Western Hotel is one of Galway's premier free venues. With a city centre location and a choice of party rooms, The Western Bar is a perfect place to make your social event as memorable and enjoyable as possible.
  
  We cater for all occasions and parties both big and small, from informal gatherings in one of our bars to large dinners, birthday parties, christenings or any special occasions in our large back function room.

  Thursday nights are famous for Galway's largest gathering of traditional musicians and a music session going long into the night. We are also pleased to announce that Galway's only Barber Shop Choir is dropping in each Thursday for a few songs and a bit of craic.
  
  Friday nights the Western plays host to some of the best and freshest live music acts in Galway. Kick start the weekend at The Western Hotel. We are currently hosting Friday Night Live, a competition that hopes to uncover Galway's next big act! Why not drop in and check these acts out for yourself.
  
  Saturday nights are all about great live music, with Galway's cover bands providing you with the best entertainment. "The Classics" belongs to Galway's premier cover bands and is performing at The Western Bar every second weekend. These lads are guaranteed to entertain you.
  
  The Western Bar has the pleasure of announcing its latest contribution to Galway's lively music scene: Our Open Mike Night!
  
  Our open mic night runs every Tuesday night from 10pm, and offers you the opportunity to show off your musical talents- whether you are a singer/songwriter wishing to play your latest tunes or an amateur looking for your first taste in playing in front of a live audience- The Western Bar is the place for you!
  
  Admission is free and anyone who dares to get up on stage and plays a minimum of 3 songs earns themselves a complimentary drink!
  
  Drink promotions will also be available on the night.
